Everyone says Valentine’s Day is lame, but once you start seeing your coworkers and/or friends getting presents, you’re sending messages to your bae being like “where’s mine, cheapo?!” A couple of times my husband (bf at the time), sent me flowers at work so I got to be the bragasaurus in the office.
*receiving flowers*
Coworker: Oh you got flowers?
Me: Yes, I am in a relationship.
*new coworker walks in*
Me: Oh hey, did you see my new flowers that I received from my bf for Valentine’s Day??
*another coworker is walking by in the hallway*
Me: Hey! Hey! Come in here a sec…I have something to show you.
Coworker: Oh nice, I received flowers too! What di–
Me: Valentine’s Day is over-rated anyway…
Now that I’m married (and have a joint account), I rather just do something small for Valentine’s Day. We usually just order in and have some wine. I also make cute Valentine’s Day treats that I know my husband will enjoy but with a funny spin.
Below are a few fun and easy ideas for Valentine’s Day treats for adults…specifically your significant other. You can do these for non-SOs but it might be weird. Probably don’t give these at work because HR might have a talk with you regarding workplace harassment.
Valentine’s Day Treats for Adults
Alcohol Gifts
I enjoy giving alcohol gifts because most people like receiving them. If it’s a party, they can share. My husband likes getting these gifts because it’s something new for him to try or an old favourite. Plus it’s a consumable gift. It’s better than having another shirt or gadget cluttering up our lives.
You can decorate the bottles with some fun printouts or writing it out by hand and decorating it with paper hearts, stickers or craft tape. If you can’t read the labels, here are what they say:
- I’d like to tap dat
- Let’s wine, dine, and 69 Valentine!
- A special brew just for you
- Let’s get fizzicle
- 50 shades of Grey Goose
- Have some whiskey and let’s get frisky
- Pale ale for my fave male
- Hoppy Valentine’s
- You malt my heart
Tea & Coffee
If you prefer non-alcoholic Valentine’s Day treats, then you can easily sub in a favourite beverage. At my house, it’s coffee for my husband and tea for me. You can treat them to an extra special bag of something new and add on a funny note like I did.
