I’m not going to write this giant, hilarious and entertaining blog post for simple syrup. It’s literally like the title, just really simple, so I don’t need to draw it out.
Simple syrup is basically sugar water to sweeten drinks without having to use actual sugar granules which would add a crunchy texture. It’s water and sugar. Not only is it basic in ingredients but technique. A baby could make this….even a dumb one! Ha, jk.
Since I like to think of myself as a ‘home bartender’, I like to make a bigger batch and just keep it in the fridge with the date I made it. It lasts about one month.
Simple syrup is used in tons of different drinks like margaritas, daiquiris and even not alcoholic drinks like lemonade or iced tea.
Simple Syrup Recipe
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
Put the water and sugar in a pot on low-medium heat. Let it melt but do not boil. Then let it cool before using. And now you have simple syrup for your drinks! Pretty simple eh??? lol
You can use any amount of the ingredients which is 1:1. There is also a ‘rich syrup’ which is 2:1 with double the sugar. It lasts up to six months but is also twice as sweet (much like myself, ha).
