A few weeks back, I went on an 8km hike (not a big deal) and at the halfway point, there was a Boston Pizza. Literally, that day, they had released the Pink Whitney Punch Bowl and I knew it was a sign from the hockey gods, so at 1pm, I ordered it.
Before you call me a boozehound, I must remind you that #1, I am Polish and #2, it was only 1.5 oz of the vodka. So totally *not* a big deal.
What’s the deal with Pink Whitney vodka? Clearly you’ve been living under a rock (or maybe living through a pandemic), but it’s pink lemonade vodka. What’s the big deal? Well it is the official drink of the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast which is presented by Barstool Sports. It’s a hockey podcast and I am a fan.
The name Pink Whitney comes from the ‘inventor’ of the drink who is one of the podcast hosts, former NHLer Ryan Whitney. He would talk often on the podcast about how pink lemonade and vodka is his go-to drink. Then one day, ta da, they made it into a flavoured vodka for all of us to enjoy.
Now back to this Pink Whitney Punch Bowl. I had it at Boston Pizza and it was great. I looked at the menu and it was basically Pink Whitney vodka and 7up. A week later, I went to a cottage and decided to recreate the punch bowl but with a few twists. It was enjoyed by all and by that I mean we all got shittered and had a great time on the dock.
Side note for the photos: there wasn’t a pitcher at the cottage and I didn’t want to use glass so I found this metal ice bowl/trophy bucket thing. And yes, we used a plastic ladle too, lol. *shrug*
Pink Whitney Punch Bowl
1 bottle of Pink Whitney vodka (or ½ a bottle if you’re a light weight)
1 bottle of 7Up (2L)
0.5 L bottle club soda (or 2-3 cans)
2 lemons, quartered
shit ton of ice
This may seem like a lot of booze, but like I said, I’m Polish and I was at a cottage! Plus it was for a group of 4. We’re not going to be walking back and forth, making single drinks like some moron. That is just poor planning. We were on the dock for the long haul and I busted out the ladle for a reason!
If it’s too much, cut the booze by half or for single drinks, 2 oz Pink Whitney vodka, half 7Up/club soda and squeeze in the juice of a lemon wedge. I didn’t have lemons, so I used limes. If you don’t have club soda, you can just add the 7Up but we were in for the long haul and I chose to hydrate with club soda.
So add in all the ingredients into a pitcher, metal ice bucket or whatever you can find. Make sure you add in a bunch of ice and squeeze in the juice of the lemons to the punch bowl. You can add more lemons if you want. Make this for a group and you’ll have a gay ole time! Not a big deeealll!*
*this is from the podcast. Seriously, you should check it out as it’s the #1 podcast.**
