What’s an Ontario salad? I don’t know. A salad made in Ontario? Naming salads is stupid. Why is a California salad called that? Did the state invent cranberries or goat cheese? Is it the birthplace of candied pecans? I don’t know. I live in Ontario so this is called the Ontario salad. If you call it something else, that’s cool too but I can’t just title this blog “salad”.
Also, you better be reading pecans as pee-cans, not peh-cauns. Does anyone call it a “caun” of pop or a trash “caun”? No, so stop trying to sound boujee.
You basically take all the ingredients and add them to a bowl or onto a plate. It’s not rocket science…just tossing a salad (ha). I’m sure a bunch of you are experts at tossing (ha ha). And if there is a certain ingredient you don’t like, swap it out. Don’t like goat cheese, put in feta or blue cheese. Don’t like alphalpha, then forget about it. Don’t like pickled red onions, get out of my face. That is the star of this salad and I have to draw a line somewhere.
Spinach (baby or adult – your choice)
Goat cheese, crumbled
Seeds (pumpkin and sesame), sprinkled
Pickled red onions, chopped
I don’t think I need to add instructions on how to make a salad. Chop, crumble and sprinkle what you need to. Add more or less of an ingredient. Add some dressing to it like this balsamic dressing, shake it around and put it in your gob.
