I don’t know about you, but I’m not a fan of getting pimples, especially now as an adult. So I have to now worry about pimples AND wrinkles?! What the hell, man. A good way to get rid of oily areas prone to pimples is by using an astringent.
It soaks up excess oil and can balance the pH of your skin. Once again, cosmetic companies are trying to pull wool over your eyes and always have their hidden agenda with their crapper products. Astringent with alcohol can be very drying so it’s recommended to avoid these products.
If your skin is a bit sensitive or needs a less harsh astringent, use a toner instead. But if you do want to use something a bit stronger, a good, natural astringent is the way to go.
1 cup distilled water
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
10 drops essential oil
Mix all of these ingredients together in a bottle. Glass is always best but if you only have plastic, then so be it. Don’t use anything metal as it doesn’t react well with essential oils. Good essential oils for face are lavender, rose, tea tree, and geranium. I would not have all 10 drops be tea tree oil as I think this is the most potent essential oil.
Just put on a cotton pad and gently rub over skin. Do not apply a bunch of pressure to scrub into your skin. This is your delicate face you’re rubbing into and not wax into the hood of your winter beater car.
Two-in-one alert! You can also use this astringent as a conditioner. Just pour ½ cup onto your hair as you would with conditioner. This will help seal in nutrients from your shampoo and give added shine. Feel free to add in some rosemary essential oil too.
Store this in a cool, dark place like a medicine cabinet or drawer in the bathroom. Use your discretion on frequency. Maybe once a week is fine, or on hot days, or maybe you’re just a sweaty person. Your call.
