Buying balsamic salad dressing is for chumps. I’m not going to apologize because it’s fact. Unless you have some phobia of mixing liquids or don’t have arms, then making your own balsamic salad dressing is where it’s at. It takes like 30 seconds… if you’re slow.
Why make your own? Well other than the above paragraph, you get a lot of BS ingredients in store-bought. Look at the ingredients list and out of the 20 things, you might know what half are…maybe. And why is there sugar in the dressing? No thanks.
Plus making your own, you can customize it to your preferences #diva #boujee.
Balsamic Salad Dressing
3 parts olive oil
1 part balsamic vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste
(plus potentially the extras mentioned below)
“What’s the deal with the ‘parts’, Ola?! I’m not a mathematician!”
Oh, I am well aware of that!
I did ‘parts’ so that everyone can cater their dressing size to the amount they need. Salad for one? Don’t need to be reminded of your loneliness every time you open the fridge and see the extra dressing looking down at your singlehood, so just make enough for your salad and then move on to dessert… or booze.
Just add all the ingredients into a mason jar, shake and then pour onto your salad.
If this is to ‘basic’ for you, you can kick it up a notch. You can use different oils like avocado or different vinegar (red wine, white wine — noticing a trend here). Or swap out the vinegar for another acid like lemon juice (you better use an actual lemon here). Add in additional spices like paprika, cayenne or maybe add in some herbs like basil or thyme…or get wild and add both! You can slice in garlic, chop up a jalapeno, or crumble in some blue cheese. If you add into the blender, you can get a smoother consistency, especially if you add in some mustard to give it some zip.
Now you have no excuse — I’ll be judging your next salad.
